Research Progress (part 1)
*writing in her journal*

It has been several weeks since I joined the High Tower and began my search through the extensive library located upon their premises. It has been extremely difficult to find any reference to the serpent tattoo. The Elders must have kept a very close guard on the incident. I was starting to get discouraged that I would ever find the answer to this situation. This morning though, I found an ancient tome in a seldom-used corner of the library.

It was an account written by a wizard who lived at the time of the war. This human magus had stumbled across the civil war in our country. He was on a journey from Nicobarese to Thalos (keep in mind this was long before Tamarang or Hartland existed) and almost walked right into a charge from our noble Bladesingers. He noted with dismay the immunity to magic that the recipients of the Bladesingers' charge displayed. He jotted down the notes he could and quickly left the area.

Later that night, a young elf who was lingering on this side of the underworld stumbled into his camp. The magus tried to help the young elf but was shocked to realize that his magic had no effect. The young elf regained consciousness long enough to point at the tattoo and feebly shake his head at the elderly magus's attempts. He then lost consciousness again never to regain it. The old magus made a sketch of the tattoo with the intention of researching it and it's origin.

The magus reached his destination at Thalos and was consumed with the many tasks that had been requested of him. He forgot about the tattoo for the time being. Soon enough, his work was finished and he began his return journey to Nicobarese. As he traveled he contemplated the mysterious nature of the tattoo. Surely such a thing was not of this world, for if so, it would have been discovered long ago. His final conclusion was that the tattoo and it's properties were from another plane of existence. In his curiosity, he decided to sneak back to the conflict to see what else he could observe.
