About Andy Korth
I’m a software engineer with deep roots in game development and cross-platform technology. I co-founded Howling Moon Software in 2007 and have specialized in games, iOS apps, Unity3D, and VR . Over the years I’ve authored or contributed to several dozen games – seen on devices from the original iPhone and iPads to Android tablets, Mac/Windows, 3DS, XBox 360, Switch, and PS4, and even the ol’ Unity3D web player.
I’m comfortable with a wide range of tech (C#, Objective-C, OpenGL, Metal, Unity3D, etc.) and deeply enjoy the variety of work that gamedev provides.
At Howling Moon, we tackled projects from musical instrument tutoring apps to 3D platformers, serving clients big and small – including Disney, Warner Bros., Silicon Valley startups and indie developers worldwide. Co-founder Scott Lembcke build Chipmunk2D physics library to give games fast, cross-platform 2D physics. I helped maintain and advance the Cocos2D engine with multi-threaded rendering and physics support. Through all this, I’ve learned to bridge creative game ideas with solid engineering, making fun experiences run smoothly on any platform.
At FireflyVR
Today I’m the Lead Software Engineer at FireflyVR (since 2019), an immersive tech startup applying VR to health care. FireflyVR’s mission is to “harness the power of immersive technology to radically improve treatment and care” for behavioral health. In practice, I help build The Sanctuary, our VR therapy platform. I focus on the Unity3D-based architecture, machine learning, and biosignal analysis that power these VR experiences.
Working at FireflyVR lets me blend my game-engine expertise with science-backed health content – creating VR programs that are as creative as they are effective. It’s been truly gratifying to see something I helped create make a difference in the lives of our users, like first responders and veterans.

About my webpage
I built this page in Hugo- initially starting with the Kayal theme, but rewriting it to use Tailwind 4 (which had just come out weeks before I started my blog rewrite) and Catppuccin for color schemes. Despite understanding all the math behind color theory, I’m still pretty bad at picking colors.
