Oba was a hole in the world, a void.
Most people, the few that did know him, thought that he had perished after his b rief encounter with Lord Rahl, Richard, that is, Kahlan, and a few others. However, Oba is inv incible. Struggling, he pushed away the towers of rock that had fallen on him and crawled thoguth the desert, the one so hot it was known as the Keeper's Furnace. His travel brought him to the City of Hartland, upon which he met a druid named Caharin. Oba found that Caharin was also born of Lord Rahl, but not Darken Rahl, instead, Ric hard. Oba was immideately enraged and entered a berserk fury. The voices in Oba's hea d had long wanted the Rahls dead, although he did not hear the voices then. It didn't matt er- Oba was invincible. Oba screamed and attacked, while Caharin countered with a blast of flame. The fl amestrike passed though Oba, leaving him unfazed, and melted a large rock behind him. Caharin paused, and then noticed something unusual. Caharin could feel the same bond with Oba that all D'Harans shared with Lord Rahl. Oba must be related to the Rahl bloodli ne, which would explain why Oba had asked questions about Caharin's parentage. Caharin drew his daggers and rushed at Oba. Oba was strong, but he knew that th ings that were not magic could hurt him, like the rocks that had nearly crushed the life out of him, even if he was invincible. Oba struggled, and fought well, but Caharin had overcome him. Just before the b rink of death, the voice left Oba's mind. All of Oba's power left him. Oba became weak, and he knew that he was not invincible. Oba was spared, and even healed by Caharin. He felt entirely different without the voices in his head. He would begin a new life, with Caharin as his friend, with their unique mental bond. |
