Creating a New Character

Before creating a new character, be sure to know the character first.

There are two basic ways to create a new character. The first is to create a character for normal game play, and then create your role play around the character's race, class, and alignment. The other is to create a role play history, or personality for your character and then choose your race and class to fit that.

What follow are the traits that make a character:

Gender

It is of course easiest to role play a character of the same gender as you. However, it may be more interesting to create a totally new persona, independant even of your gender. However, be careful if you choose to play the opposite gender, not to overdo it. Observe others and follow their lead.

Please note that WR does not support the gender "neutral" or "it."

Note that most races have certain mythologies, history, physical characteristics, languages, or other traits that go with them. Click one each link for the help file and other information on each race. Some links also include name generators, so that your name is fitting to the race you select.
Knowing as much as you can about your race can help you role play your character realistically, and in a way that other people can relate to because they will pick up on your roleplay more easily.

Next order of business is finding a class that fits your race. Below is help class from WR:

Note that certain races and classes do not mix well. This is because some races have a natural tendancy to use, or distrust, in magic. Some are inherently evil, while some are good. These mismatches can be used if you intend to explain it in a convincing fashion, but make sure that you've thought that through, and possibly consulted with another roleplayer about it, before you attempt it. Behavior

For quick and general ideas on character behavior, click here. Choose a large number in the first box, and then "RPG: Dungeons and Dragons" in the second box. Hit generate, and see if you find any of the suggestions interesting. These one line descriptions will not make your character, but they are a great place to start. As you being to rp with other people, your character will develop over time.

The following checklist is suggestions for personality traits. This means the characteristics of how your character behaves.
Check the boxes by each trait that your character will have. Things that must be specified have a text box which you may fill out. To not have anything in that field, leave it blank.

Personality Traits

Addiction (must be specified):
I am addicted to
You NEED something, and become desperate when you cannot have it for more than one day (ex: addicted to wine).

-align restriction: Cannot have alliance +3 or tendency +3, for you might kill for his need.

Animal empathy:
You like animals, and they usually like you too. You like to be always surrounded by them.

-align restriction: Cannot have alliance-3, for you will never kill animals for sport.

Blatancy:
You do like to laugh at people mercilessly, and making people the subject of a joke is sublime.

-align restriction: cannot be alliance +3, for you can hurt someone's feelings deeply with such actions.

Carefulness:
You seldom act hastily and without thinking carefully about it. You take time to make your decisions.

-align restriction: Cannot have tendency -2 or -3. Chaotic people are usually susceptible to whims.

Code of Honor (must be specified):
My code of honor is
You have a code of honor, and you must follow it, for it is anchored to the very depths of your soul (ex: code of honor: respect ladies).

-align restriction: cannot have negative tendency.

Compassion:
You always feel a tugging at your heart when you see others in pain or hurting and want to do something to help them. You are also able to forgive those who hurt you.

-align restriction: cannot have negative alliance.

Confusion:
The world is unfocused, things don't make much sense, and you simply cannot understand why trees are green.

Credulity:
You believe in people; the concept of people lying doesn't exist to you, so you believe everything that is told to you.

Curiosity:
You are always curious about everything, and you are eager to know new places and new people, even if that involves personal risk.

Curse (must be specified):
My curse is
You have been cursed, and are not able to perform some actions (ex: curse: cannot touch metal).

Distraction:
You cannot easily concentrate on anything... nice those butterflies out there, aren't they?

Fantasy (must be specified):
My fantasy is
You believe something contrary to the nature of the world is true (ex: fantasy: cats are the improved version of gnomes).

Friendliness:
You will always make the first move when meeting someone new. You have a cheerful nature which likes to meet new people and enjoys talking with others.

Forgetfulness:
Your memory is awful! Names, places, paths, they should be all written down in a great walking board, with legs to accompany you around the world.

Fugue:
You have blackouts, periods of time you will not remember later. It's like there are blank gaps in your life, and you got no idea what happened there.

Gluttony:
Is there something better than eat a wonderful sweet? You are always carrying large amounts of food, and is always munching some of it. An offer of food usually can seduce you.

Greed:
Money, money, money! If it can't be money, be it jewel, jewel, jewel! Those shiny things that worth a lot are simply irresistible. The ppooowwwweeeerrrr! Power, power, power, I must have it!

-align restriction: Cannot have alliance +3 or tendency +3, for you might kill for his need.

Hatred (must be specified):
You hate
You hate something so much, that any other goal pales before the possibility of hurting it (ex: hatred: orcs).

-align restriction: cannot have alliance +3, for you might kill the ones he hate. (ooc note: do rp this! do not pkill an orc on sight!)

Honesty:
You must always speak the truth, no matter what is at stake. Lying would be a great shame on you.

-align restriction: cannot have -2/-3 tendency.

Impulsiveness:
Act first, think later, that is your motto.

-align restriction: should not have extreme positive aligns.

Intolerance (must be specified):
You are intolerant of
You can't stand something, and you have to do something about it. Its presence disturbs you, but usually not to the point of destroying it (ex: intolerance: cockroaches).

-align restriction: cannot have alliance +3 or tendency +3, for you may go to extremes, to rid yourself from the intolerable thing.

Life goal (must be specified):

You have a goal, one that is probably so huge that it is unattainable, but you must do all you can to achieve that (ex: life goal: master all languages).

-align restriction: depends on the case. If 'life goal: world peace', cannot have extreme negative aligns; if 'life goal: exterminate elves', cannot have extreme positive aligns.

Loyalty:
You will remain loyal to your friends or beliefs no matter what.

-align restriction: cannot have -2 or -3 tendency, for such people might well betray others.

Madness:
You're nuts. You lost contact with the meaningful reality, and find yourself living in your own home-made reality.

-align restriction: no positive tendencies.

Masochism:
You like, you love to be hurt! The pain... oh, it is sooo good!

Mood tendency (must be specified):
Your mood tends to be
You tend to one kind of mood, and that's the way you are most of the time (ex: mood tendency: happy).

Multiple personalities: (must be specified)

Part of your time you are a sweet, delicate person, and part of it you're a devious plotter. Or any other combinations you can think of. Both personalities must agree with your alignment, though, due to game limits. Ie, you cannot be a holy person and an evil one at the same time.

Nurture:
You always like to take care of others, particularly children, and to see others grow and learn.

-align restriction: no extreme negative aligns.

Obsession (must be specified):
You are obsessed with
You are obsessed by something, and anything related to your obsession will drive you, call you, knocking down any common sense you would have otherwise.

-align restriction: cannot have aligns +2 or over, for you might steal, or kill, if necessary to get the object of your desire.

Overconfidence:
You have yourself in high opinion, and you are pretty sure that you can handle anything. Of course that huge platinum dragon can be defeated!

Pacifism:
You hate violence, and you try to avoid any time you can.

-align restriction: cannot have alliance -2 or lower, and should not have alliance -1.

Paranoia (must be specified):
You have an unreasonable suspision that
There is something, or someone after you, wanting to do something awful to you. You feel endangered. And nothing can convince you of the opposite (ex: paranoia: dragons want my skin).

-align restriction: cannot have alliance or tendency +2 or over, for you do not think of laws or souls when you're paranoic.

Patience:
You have an inexhaustible amount of patience and are able to tolerate annoyances, or to endure hardships. You are especially good at teaching because you have patience with student and their abilities.

-align restriction: no negative alliances.

Phobia (must be specified):
You have an unreasonable fear of
There is something that scares you so much, that you can't think, or do anything in its presence.

Repugnant behaviour:
You do such detestable things, that it usually drives people away from you. Having lunch with you takes a great deal of self-discipline not to vomit.

Respect (must be specified):
You have a lot of respect for
There is something that you respect above everything else, and only in extreme cases you'd do something to hurt it (ex: respect: children).

-align restriction: depends on the case. If 'respect: life', cannot have negative alignments whatsoever. If 'respect: murder', cannot have positive alignments.

Sadism:
You like to cause pain... yesss.... the pain itself is a lot more fun than the kill itself. Why kill someone, if you can make it suffer a lot more by letting him live?

-align restriction: no positive alliances.

Servitude:
You willingly and cheerfully help others and want to make their lives easier by meeting their basic needs, such as providing food and drink.

Shyness:
You don't feel well when dealing with a group of people, and you will avoid social situations at all costs. Talking to a friend privately is a lot more agreeable.

Stubbornness:
Once your opinion is formed, you don't change it. It is easier for the Kron to bow before you than for you to change your mind.

Stammer:
During those crucial moments of your life, whenever something important is at game, you find yourself unable to easily communicate.

True love:
You found the meaning of that in your life. It is what gives you strength to go on, when everything seems lost.

Weak will:
You are easily manipulated by people, your opinions are so weakly exposed that they hardly convince anyone, yourself included. You are usually unsure about yourself, and happy to follow someone else's leadership.


The following checklist is suggestions for physical traits. This means the characteristics of your character's body and appearance.
Check the boxes by each trait that your character will have.

Physical Traits

Albinism:
Your skin is so pale that it is easily hurt by the sun. Thus, you don't like to be in open places during the day, and prefer to travel during night.

Allergy (must be specified):
You are allergic to
You are allergic to a substance, and you cannot sniff, eat or touch it, else you fall sick, sneezing and with red dots all over your body.

Amnesia:
You don't remember who you are, what is your past, or part of it. Your mind is empty of memories.

Bad hearing:
You cannot understand well what people say to you. They usually have to repeat two or three times, and shout, for you to fully understand.

Bad sight:
The world is a blur, and it is hard to see beyond a few meters.

Blind:
You can't see a thing!

Color blindness:
You can't see any color at all. The world is black and white.

Daltonism:
You can't distinguish very well two colours, for they look the same to you.

Deaf:
You can't hear a sound in the world.

Limp:
You limp. Or in other words: you limp.

Loss of a limb (must be specified):
You are missing your
You lack a foot, leg, arm, finger, ear, or all of them.

Medical condition (must be specified):
You are afflicted with
You have a disease that may or may not be uncurable, in mild, medium or extreme form (ex: sores, leporsy, unknown).

Mute:
You can't talk.

Scar (must specify):
You have a scar a scar
You have some visible scar, or birthmark.
